Clan Maxwell Tartan Face Mask, Scottish Family Heritage Face Covering, Celtic Hunting Plaid Ancestry Mask
The Clan Maxwell is a Lowlands Scottish clan currently without a clan chief making it an armigerous clan according to Lord Lyon King of Arms rules. They did once swear fealty to Edward the Longshanks, King of England in 1296. However, the chief's son, who held Caerlaverock Castle as a vassal for the English, later decided to fight with Robert the Bruce at the Battle of Bannockburn. But my personal favorite story of the Clan Maxwell is when the fifth Earl of Nithsdale, a staunch Jacobite, was captured at the Battle of Preston during the 1715 Jacobite Rising. The English imprisoned him and sentenced the Earl to death for supporting the Jacobite. But he and his wife hatched a plan to disguise him as a serving lady, escaped the Tower of London where he was kept, and fled to Rome to live out the rest of their days together. Sounds like the perfect escape plan to me! So let's celebrate this family line together with a Clan Maxwell Tartan Face Mask today!
